The OCN Webcast

I am not sure how many of you tuned in to the first Webcast from OCN but I will have to tell you that is was GREAT.  The team did a great job, the music was great and all of the people that called in did an amazing job.  From a Web 2.0 perspective this was a giant step forward.

Asan example, I was streaming live on uStream while recording and episode of the Facing East Podcast that Fr. Greg Christakos and I do together.  During the stream we called into the show and they had our stream live.  Now we had people watching us, watch them, watch us...  Wait I am very confused now.  These are the type of events that we need to do to bring the message of the Orthodox Church to the world.  I look forward to more programs like this one.  If you were not able to watch this event live you can watch an archived version at http://www.myocn.net/

Aside from some minor technical problems at the beginning, there were some great segments with callers, especially Dr. Albert Rossi who talked about Orthodox Christmas music, Frederica Mathewes-Green spoke on What to expect during your first Orthodox celebration of Christmas, Fr. Stanley Harakas compard and contrasted St. Nicholas to Santa Claus, Fr. Greg Christakos and I gave and update on our podcasts and some of my parishioners that were here for a local party and Phyllis Onest told us how to Make Christmas real in the home and Archbishop Nicolae spoke about Christmas traditions in Romania.

This was truly a wonderful experience and I am glad I had a chance to participate.
