New Adult Catechism Class Offered in September
OCN and St. Demetrios Church will be presenting another Adult Catechism Class starting on September 12, 2010 at 10am each Sunday through the month of December via web cast. Listeners and viewers will also be able to download the study guide for each class from the myocn.net site.  The class is based on the book, A Catechetical Handbook of the Eastern Orthodox Church by D. H. Stamtis, PhD.
Our goal as Orthodox Christians is to attain theosis but many people have no idea what this means.  The way we can approach that state is through the cardinal virtues of faith, hope and love, which are the practical and directive goals set for man. To attain these goals, the Church, in its infinite wisdom has articulated the process through its dogmas, worship, and morals, respectively.
How do we of the Orthodox faith proclaim the faith and persuade an outsider to take a second look at what we have to offer? How do we keep our children in the faith and Traditions of our forefathers? How do we propagate the faith and traditions to all who have thirst for eternity? Don't miss this exciting web cast each week and remember to visit  myocn.net for further updates and the actual broadcast.  All classes will be archived and each one will also have a down loadable study guide at the myocn.net site.  Tune in and by all means tell your family and friends to do so likewise.

Fr. Luke Veronis is back on the show today speaking as Executive Director of the newly-established Missions Institute of Orthodox Christianity. He’ll be telling us about the Institute’s mission, its recent summer class which included a trip to Albania with a group of students, and why it’s so important to cultivate a spirit of missions in the modern Orthodox Church. Plus, in our feature interview we'll welcome Dr. Albert Rossi back to the program to talk with us about a very real problem in our society - internet pornography. Dr. Rossi recommends the following websites for additional information: www.covenanteyes.com and sa.org.
