THIS WEEK FROM THE ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN NETWORK

THIS WEEK’S COME RECEIVE THE LIGHT - THE NATIONALLY SYNDICATED RADIO PROGRAM OF ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY
This week on CRTL, Maria Tsacrios Molett explores the tangled web of forgiveness, relationships and spirituality. But first, how many of us imagine God as "the big guy upstairs"? Fr. Steven Freeman looks at how seeing God as something removed from us and residing in the Heavens impedes our relationship to Him and one another. Get your copy of Fr. Freeman's song "Everywhere Present" from the OCN Store - http://www.myocn.net/index.php/OCN-Store.html.

Adult Catechism Class to resume on Sunday March 6, 2011 at St.Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Lauderdale Florida followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.  Classes are available on the internet and will be archived.  Study guides for each episode to go along with the class will be available at www.myocn.net the web site of the Orthodox Christian Network as well as the website of St. Demetrios Church at www.stdemetrios.org.
The Class as well as the web cast will reference the book God’s Many-Splendored Image: Theological Anthropology for Christian Formation by Nonna Verna Harrison.
What does it mean to be a human being made in the image of God? This book makes the case that the divine image can be seen in not just one or two aspects of human identity but in all of them. The author, a specialist in early Christianity, reveals the light that leading theologians of the early church shed on contemporary discussions of what it means to be human. Each chapter explores a different facet of the divine image and likeness and maps out a path that can lead toward wholeness and holiness. This fresh approach to theological anthropology brings Greek patristic theology to students in a readable fashion.
Tune in every Sunday via video from St. Demetrios in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Each week we will explore the depths of the Orthodox Faith as we tackle topics of interest for Orthodox Christians and inquires alike. The Sounding - New Blog probes depths of Orthodoxy

Fort Lauderdale - The Orthodox Christian Network (www.myocn.net) launched its multi-author blog entitled The Sounding on February 21st at www.soundingblog.com. The  blog, which takes its name from the nautical process of measuring the depths of surrounding waters, encourages readers to encounter and explore the world around them through the lens that the Church offers all of us. The blog is organized around five main areas of discussion:
Pop Culture- His Grace Bishop Savas of Troas
Orthodox Home and Family-Sylvia Leontaritis
Youth/Young Adult Ministry- Fr. Stavros Akrotiriankis
Orthodox Basics- Fr. Ernesto Obregòn
Missions - James Hargrave
Fr.  Chris Metropulos, Executive Director of OCN, describes The Sounding as "a buoy in the sea of life that allows us to find our direction. OCN now has over 1 Million people yearly listening to our various affiliates to learn and grow in Christ.  This blog is an aid to navigation that emits a distinctive call, the joy of the Gospel which enlightens our way through the troubled and challenging waters of life.  It is a life raft to those who are searching to find a secure vessel of faith."
The Orthodox Christian Network has been an official agency of SCOBA since 2003 and looks forward to working within the context of the new Episcopal Assembly. Commissioned by our hierarchs to create a national, sustainable and effective media witness for Orthodox Christianity throughout North America OCN produces the only nationally syndicated Orthodox Christian radio broadcast, as well as several other outreach programs, including DVDs and Internet-based media, in direct collaboration with sister SCOBA agencies (e.g. IOCC, OCMC, OCF, OCPM), as well as with various Orthodox Christian jurisdictions and pan-Orthodox, para-church organizations. Our goal is to engage the broader culture of North America with Orthodox Christianity's rich theological, spiritual and moral heritage, and to thereby strengthen the Orthodox Church's witness and contribution to the culture in which we live.
