In honor of the Sunday of the First Council Fathers, Fr. William Chiganos will discuss the 318 Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council on Special Moments in Orthodoxy.

On Special Moments in Orthodoxy, as we continue to explore the monthly theme, we recall that Jesus hallowed the intimate bond between man and woman by his ministry and miracle at the Wedding of Cana. Fr. William Chiganos explores the Church’s esteem for marriage in the words of the Wedding Liturgy and Scripture.
Following our Theme of “Let’s Talk About Sex,” we sometimes assume that attention to this topic is only something modern. But the Early Church also grappled with how to balance an appropriate esteem for marriage with speaking out against abuses of our God-given sexual faculties. On Special Moments in Orthodoxy, Dr. George Parsenios of Princeton Theological Seminary looks at Chapter 5 of 1st Corinthians, in which Paul deals with sexual and other types of immorality that had crept into the life of the Church at Corinth. Where is the boundary between the world and the Church in dealing with those engaged in immoral acts? How should disputes between Christians be handled?
