Following our Theme of “Let’s Talk About Sex,” we sometimes assume that attention to this topic is only something modern. But the Early Church also grappled with how to balance an appropriate esteem for marriage with speaking out against abuses of our God-given sexual faculties. On Special Moments in Orthodoxy, Dr. George Parsenios of Princeton Theological Seminary looks at Chapter 5 of 1st Corinthians, in which Paul deals with sexual and other types of immorality that had crept into the life of the Church at Corinth. The coming “Fiscal Cliff” seems to be all-consuming these days and most Americans watch the daily news with fear and anxiety for an unknown economic future. But as Christians we do not need to fear the economic future, cliff or no cliff. So long as we keep our hearts focused upon Jesus Christ, we will safely pass through any trial and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
