Come Receive the Light
From the desk of Father Chris Metropulos, Executive Director of the Orthodox Christian Network
Dear Blessed people of God,
Live purposefully. Love the Lord your God with all your heart. Share your faith and let your light shine brightly. Live your faith as if this were your last day on earth.
This month at OCN, we will be delving into living our lives purposefully. How do we purposefully live our lives as Orthodox Christians? I am not speaking about the kind of tips you'd get from a self-help book, but rather about how the historical and apostolic Church views our purpose in life, the one given to us by our Creator.
We live in a world that wants instant results and a world that wants to have it all. Many of us are so busy just doing the next thing that we don't take the time to realize that all of our actions and thoughts should have a purpose. That purpose is to prepare us for our salvation.

Representative Bill Hinkle from Washington State is back on the program to talk with us about faith in the public sphere, the conflicting messages we receive about the meaning of life, and how he connects his understanding of the purpose of life with his daily routine. We’ll also hear from Jennifer Nahas, Executive Director of Orthodox Christian Fellowship, about their recent College Student Sunday events and upcoming events for 2013.

From the desk of Father Chris Metropulos, Executive Director of the Orthodox Christian Network
Dear Blessed people of God,
September for Orthodox Christians worldwide is the beginning of a new church or ecclesiastical year. The faith of the Apostles places before us another wonderful opportunity to remake or rearrange our priorities. This month, OCN will present a series of programs on New Beginnings and Theosis. For those who may not be Orthodox, you might be saying, “What is Theosis?” Maybe those who are Orthodox Christians are hearing this word for the first time and want an explanation of it. This month, that is exactly what we are going to do on our CRTL Programming.
We also present to you this month a new series of adult study classes held every Sunday in the Church of St. Demetrios, Ft. Lauderdale, the home of the OCN. This class will be offered between the end of the Orthros and beginning of the Divine Liturgy, starting at 10:00 AM ESTD. The classes will be taught by yours truly, Fr. John Codis, and Joseph Olas, and we hope you will find them uplifting and rewarding. Study guides will also be made available each week for download to our viewers and listeners. Don’t worry if you miss the study class on Sunday; you can always go to our archives and listen to it when you want.

He's here to talk with us about Orthodox Christology. What does it mean? How does it differ from Western Christology? And why is it important for our daily walk with Christ?
