Is there a difference between being “good” and being “moral”? Popular culture seems to cast a wide net on what it means to be a “good person.” It goes a step further by suggesting that some things we as Orthodox consider to be unhealthy are actually what make a person “normal”. Popular culture also insists that a person needs certain character traits in order to be a “good person” that maybe conflict with what Orthodox believe are good traits. So this is the topic we are going to cover this month. God has sanctified us with the the TRUTH but how many of us understand this?

Basketball-sized tumors, colostomies covered by old plastic bags, an HIV-positive woman who’s husband and 3 children have already died of the disease. These are some of the experiences Drs. Jane and Dan Hinshaw had when they went on a three week mission trip to Ethiopia. Join them as they share what they saw, did and learned. When we hear about “missions,” many of us picture scenes of foreign countries. But there are a growing number of mission parishes right here in America. Fr. Mark T. Mancuso of St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr Orthodox Church of Cayce, South Carolina, talks about the joys and struggles of a mission parish in the USA.
Dean Yianis, father to a 6 year-old named Theofanis who is battling Neuroblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer, joins Fr. Chris to talk about his family’s experience with this disease and its impact on their spiritual lives. But first, Christ commanded us to visit those in prison, but what are we as Orthodox communities offering to prisoners? Chaplain Patrick Tutella is back on the show to encourage developing local prison ministries.
