Why didn’t Christ tell us when He would Return? There are very good reasons, actually. Dr. Eugenia Constantinou shares her thoughts on this, as well as how the Apocalypse shaped early Christian thought. 
What’s the true meaning of Christmas? Most of us would agree that it’s not presents, but how much can we say about the theological significance of Christ’s birth? Fr. Vasile Tudora of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Euless, Texas, invites us to celebrate life this Christmas. Then Fr. Christopher Metropulos, OCN Executive Director will share a special Christmas message.
This week’s topic is “Peace on Earth” - a phrase we hear a lot this time of year, but do we really mean it? We begin with Fr. Hildo Bos, author of For the Peace from Above, who shares what early Christians wrote about peace and war. Then we’ll hear from Peter Sprunger-Froese, a Mennonite pacifist, on how to make peace part of our daily awareness and life.
A lot of Christians get very upset about "Happy Holidays" replacing "Merry Christmas" and nativity scenes being replaced by scenes of snowmen and Santa Clause. But is that necessarily a bad thing? Is it maybe an opportunity? Hear what Fr. John McGuckin has to say! And do you feel deafened by the noises of the holiday season? Norris Chumley shares what he's learned from monastics around the world and the writings of the Church Fathers about the importance of silence in our lives.
Does it seem to you that everything is being called an addiction these days? Ben Wiker joins us to suggest that maybe we need to call our vices what they really are - sin. But first, OCN is honored to welcome Prof. Stanley Hauerwas, Professor of Theological Ethics and Duke, to the program. Prof. Hauerwas will share his thoughts on the difference between Christian morality and the secular notion of “being good.” Stay tuned this month as we continue to explore the relationship between popular culture and morality.
