The Orthodox Christian Network is proud to announce that Icon New Media Network will be joining the family of OCN contributors. OCN, which is an agency of SCOBA and has been established to create a national, sustainable and effective media witness for the Orthodox Christian Church in North America, has agreed to distribute Icon New Media Network content on their distribution channels.
Icon New Media Network's goal is to introduce Orthodox Christianity to emergent, post-evangelical and non-Christian audiences through the use of new media such blogs, podcasts, and video. This fits in nicely with the OCN's focus as the premier Orthodox multi-media portal.
Icon currently has three regular podcasts:
Generation Orthodox—a round table discussion about life, culture and Orthodoxy
The Man in Black—Fr. Andrew Welzig shares theological instruction
True Convergence—Conversion Stories from the Convergence movement
In addition, there are also three blogs:
Woman, Thou Art Awesome—The lives of female saints
Church in the Home—Raising Children in the Orthodox faith
So it says—Book, film and art reviews
Final details are being arranged, but look for Icon programming to begin appearing as an OCN channel in the near future!
About Icon Media Network
In 2007, Jacob Lee saw a need for Orthodox content that was aimed at a young, post-Christian demographic. A former evangelical Gen-X church pastor who had recently become an Orthodox Christian, Jacob wanted to reach out to his generation and share with them the ancient Church. Icon New Media Network was created to provide an alternative source for information about Orthodoxy in a format that was targeted to post-evangelical members of Generation X and Y.
Jacob Lee serves as the Creative Director of Icon New Media Network. Fr. Andrew Welzig of St. John the Theologian in San Juan Capistrano, CA is the spiritual advisor. |
