On this weeks Journey Jacob Lee talks with Christiaan Corthier a Baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic that at the age of 11 found the faith of his Mother and Grand Parents Serbian Orthodoxy. Although the services were not held in his native language (English) through the music and iconography of the Church Christiaan understood and grasped the Faith of the Church and came to embrace it and love it. Christiaan is and has been actively involved in YAL and OCF and started the first and largest Orthodox MySpace group. Find out more about his exciting Journey by listening in. Hi Christiaan! Thanks for being on the show. I too converted when I was 13! I know exactly what you mean about having an intuitive sense of the beauty, tradition and, ultimately, Grace-filled presence of Orthodox worship. As a young person, that was much more influential than head knowledge in leading me to accept the Faith.
Perhaps we should all return to that more child-like approach!

I converted when I was 30. Big difference between 13 and 30. I notice watching my 'cradle' Orthodox children (6 and 3) that there is a big difference between a convert and a cradle. Orthodoxy for them is the same as air. It is just all around them, and everything is right with the world.

I am an Ethiopian orthodox. I know a person who was changed to protestant from the orthodox and finally returned back to Orthodox Christianity. She said the orthodox music and the smell of the essence and the whole grace in the church convinced her that orthodox is the true religion. Things Christiaan Corthier said reminded me of her.
I agree with Christiaan you can’t define it you can just fell it! When you go to the church see the icons, the music, the smell …. You know it is the right church.
