William Chiganos of the Holy Apostles Church in Westchester, IL talks about he benefits of reading Holy Scripture and how the knowledge gained helps guard us  from heretical teachings. On Special Moment of Orthodoxy, Dr. Michael Christakis is the President of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion (OCAMPR) and was the chair of the 2011 Annual Conference on Conception.  A physician practicing general medicine, Dr. Christakis works for the Veteran’s Administration in the Boston area and sees first hand on a daily basis the effects of human pain and suffering. He is seeking to strengthen OCAMPR ’s role within the Church so that health care workers can be integrating their faith in their practices and so that OCAMPR can be informing the church about medical and bioethical issues that the church is facing today.
