Gospel of John

Horoscopes, Tarot cards and talking to the dead are often thought of as “New Age” ideas, but none of it is very new! Fr. Brendan Pelphrey is here to talk about our human obsession with the paranormal, desire to control our own lives and how it all fits in with our Orthodox faith. And we’ll conclude our series with Dr. George Parsenios on Christ in the 4 Gospels. We end with the Gospel of John, which differs greatly from the other Gospels in several aspects. If you have enjoyed Dr. Parsenios series on the 4 Gospels, you might check out his book, Departure and Consolation: The Johannine Farewell Discourses in Light of Greco-Roman. I have for many years felt drawn to the Orthodox way having been raised an Anglican ,studied at a Methodist Theological college ,become discouraged with things so joined the free churches BUT then finding such legalism in these too .(most recently an Envoy in the Salvation Army even )Some lovely ladies who are Orthodox have given me some Orthodox books and these are helpful and interesting YET listening to these podcasts are so good.As a strong bible believer and one who studies the scriptures with faith I had thought that Orthodox teaching /preaching would be dry BUT I should not have thought this .The preachers on the Podcasts seem SO FAR to be so very to coin a phrase ,spirit led /inspired .

I have downloaded some more and may even attend one of the Orthodox services where my friends go in Cornwall .
