Ecumencial Patriarchate

Presided by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Holy and Sacred Synod convened its regular session on Wednesday, March 2, and Thursday, March 3, in order to examine the items on the daily agenda.
During its session today, Thursday, March 3, 2011, the Holy and Sacred Synod, at the recommendation of His All Holiness, unanimously elected the Grand Chancellor Stephanos to the rank of Metropolitan of Kallioupolis and Madytos, as well as its Chief Secretary Elpidophoros to the rank of Metropolitan of Proussa.
The Small and Great Messages were proclaimed by both Metropolitans-elect on the same day, while the two deservedly elevated clergymen received the congratulations of the Ecumenical Patriarch, the attending Hierarchs, the Patriarchal Court, and the faithful.
The ordination of His Grace Metropolitan-elect Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos will take place on the Sunday of Orthodoxy (March 13), while that of His Grace Metropolitan-Elect Elpidophoros of Proussa will occur on the 2nd Sunday of Lent (March 20). Both sacraments will be held in the Patriarchal Church of St. George.
Moreover, following the elevation of the hitherto Chief Secretary, the Holy and Sacred Synod elevated the Very Rev. Archimandrite Bartholomew his successor as Chief Secretary, also naming the Very Rev. Deacon Joachim as Deputy Secretary and the Very Rev. Paisios as Codicographer.
