THIS WEEK FROM THE ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN NETWORK

COME RECEIVE THE LIGHT - THE NATIONALLY SYNDICATED RADIO PROGRAM OF ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY
In the Old Testament account of the three youths in the furnace we see some of the first examples of those who were willing to die for the Lord, as well as a God who descends to deliver his people. Friend-of-the-show Dc. Irenaios Anderson is back to talk about our Orthodox interpretation of this important story. The Good Samaritan is one of Christ’s most famous parables, but how much have we reflected on it? Dr. Bruce Beck of the Pappas Patristics Institute explores the historical context and interpretations of the Holy Fathers.

WEBCAST - BEGINNING OF GREAT LENT
Adult Catechism Class to resume on Sunday March 6, 2011 at St.Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Lauderdale Florida followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.  Classes are available on the internet and will be archived.  Study guides for each episode to go along with the class will be available at www.myocn.net the web site of the Orthodox Christian Network as well as the website of St. Demetrios Church at www.stdemetrios.org.
The Class as well as the web cast will reference the book God’s Many-Splendored Image: Theological Anthropology for Christian Formation by Nonna Verna Harrison.
What does it mean to be a human being made in the image of God? This book makes the case that the divine image can be seen in not just one or two aspects of human identity but in all of them. The author, a specialist in early Christianity, reveals the light that leading theologians of the early church shed on contemporary discussions of what it means to be human. Each chapter explores a different facet of the divine image and likeness and maps out a path that can lead toward wholeness and holiness. This fresh approach to theological anthropology brings Greek patristic theology to students in a readable fashion.
Tune in every Sunday via video from St. Demetrios in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Each week we will explore the depths of the Orthodox Faith as we tackle topics of interest for Orthodox Christians and inquires alike.
