The giveaway is part of this year's celebration of Share the Light Sunday on January 18, 2009, an annual event designated by the Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) to spread the word about OCN's programs and mission, and to raise financial support for the growth of its national outreach programs.

Parishes throughout North America traditionally observe Share the Light Sunday by taking a special offering, reading the Share the Light Sunday encyclical letter by the SCOBA hierarchs, and featuring OCN's ministry in parish publications and announcements.

"This year, we're expecting to see even greater grassroots participation in Share the Light Sunday," Fr. Christopher Metropulos, the Executive Director of OCN, said. "We hope individual supporters and parishes will introduce thousands of people to OCN by telling them about the iPod giveaway and our mission to use modern media to share the timeless truth of Orthodoxy with the modern world."

Individuals can register to win the iPod by visiting www.myocn.net and signing up for OCN's free weekly e-Newsletter. Every new registrant will be automatically entered to win.

In addition, supporters of OCN can increase their chances of winning by recruiting others to sign up for the e-Newsletter.

"Don't just be passive, spread the word," Fr. Metropulos said. "Tell your family, friends and fellow parishioners about OCN and encourage them to sign up for the iPod. 2008 was a year of tremendous growth for this ministry, and, with your help, we can make 2009 even better."
